
Vary the Designated Premises Supervisor
A Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) is the individual who is responsible for the daily management of a business that has a premises licence to retail alcohol. All sale and/or supply of alcohol transacted under a premises licence must be authorised by an individual who holds a valid personal licence. In accordance with the Licensing Act 2003, there can only be one DPS per premises licence.
The Mandatory conditions that are imposed on a premises licence for all business that offer the sale by retail of alcohol., which relate to the designated premises supervisor are;
No supply of alcohol may be made under this licence at a time when:

there is no DPS; or
-
the DPS does not hold a personal licence or his or her personal licence is suspended.
The police service can submit objections to a proposed DPS application. This objection will be submitted if they agree that this individual could undermine the crime prevention objective. Where the police object to the proposed DPS, a licensing sub-committee hearing must be held to decide the application.
